Ultrasound-guided Procedures

Ultrasound is a great way to guide our sampling devices into any structure with very high precision.
The Ultrasound Vet can perform cystocentesis, cholecystocentesis, abdominocentesis, thoracocentesis, pericardiocentesis, placement of pleural drains, fine needle aspirates (FNAs) and tru-cut biopsies.
Some considerations need to be done in terms of sedation or general anaesthetic protocol, as well as blood clotting profile for tru-cut biopsies maximum 24 hours prior to the procedure.
Apart from the tru-cut biopsies (that need more planning), all of the other procedures can be done at the time of the ultrasound examination, with the prior consent of the pet owner. The Ultrasound Vet carries FNAs needles and tru-cut needles – no need to turn the place upside down searching for it.
